Focus

Only 3 days on the job, and already the world of blogging has me completely transfixed. I think about something interesting I could post about or get on my computer to fiddle with fonts and colors (as you can probably tell). This is my brand new Christmas toy; I'm nearly obsessed with it the first few days/weeks, but (hopefully) after a while, its newness and excitement dies down.
Until that point, however, I'm in trouble.
I've compromised my relationship with Jesus already, setting time I would spend with him to be spent here. So, I've taken it upon myself to put blogging as the end to my day; after everything else of greater importance (excluding homework, of course) has been taken care of, I enter dreamland with my new toy.
It should come as no surprise that my date with Jesus today was specific to what has been on my mind lately. I opened my devotional to see the words glaring back at me "Keep your focus on me." It went on to talk about how we are crafted by God with the ability to choose the focal point of your mind, a sign of being made in God's image. Because of that, we are called to "take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ" (1Cor 10:5). We can win the spiritual warfare waging everywhere- even in our minds. ...So why not? Why not let the God of the universe rule our every thought and action; why not do and THINK everything for His glory?
